1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of travelessentiales.com and all content, features, and services offered on it (collectively, the “Site”).
The Site is operated by Travel Essentials (“we,” “us,” “our”), an independent publication that reviews luggage, packing gear, and travel technology.
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, you must not use the Site.
These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy by reference. Together, they form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site.
2. Who May Use the Site
You may use the Site only if:
- You are at least 16 years old (or 13 if you are in the United States), and
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and
- You are not barred from using the Site under the laws of your jurisdiction, and
- Your use complies with these Terms and all applicable law
If you are using the Site on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
3. Independence and Editorial Integrity
This section states the commitments that define what we are. We hold ourselves to it.
We are independent. No luggage brand, retailer, airline, or manufacturer owns, controls, or holds a financial interest in Travel Essentials.
We do not sell reviews. No payment, gift, sponsorship, or commercial relationship can purchase a favourable score. This is not negotiable and no exceptions are made.
We do not sell links. We do not accept payment for backlinks, guest posts, sponsored placements presented as editorial, or link exchanges of any kind.
We disclose free products. Where a brand supplies a product without charge, that fact is stated clearly on the review page. Free products receive the same testing and the same honest verdict as products we buy.
We retain full editorial control. No brand reviews, approves, or edits our content before publication. No brand is granted a right of reply prior to publication.
We correct our mistakes visibly. Errors are fixed promptly and a correction note remains on the page. We do not quietly amend and pretend nothing happened.
We publish negative reviews. Where gear performs poorly, we say so.
If you believe we have failed any of these commitments, tell us at info@travelessentiales.com. We will investigate and respond.
4. Affiliate Links and How We Earn
4.1 Disclosure
The Site contains affiliate links. When you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission from the merchant or affiliate network.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
We also participate in other affiliate programmes with retailers and manufacturers of travel gear.
4.2 What This Means for You
- The price you pay is identical. Affiliate links never increase your cost. Not by a penny.
- You are under no obligation to use our links. You may go directly to any merchant. Our content is free either way.
- Commission does not affect our scores. We recommend inexpensive products with negligible commission whenever they are the better product. We decline to recommend high-commission products when they are not good.
4.3 We Are Not the Seller
We do not sell any product on this Site. We take no payments, process no orders, hold no inventory, and ship nothing.
Your purchase contract is with the merchant, not with us. All matters concerning payment, delivery, warranty, returns, refunds, exchanges, and after-sales support are between you and that merchant, governed by that merchant’s terms and conditions.
We are not an agent of any merchant, and no merchant is our agent. We accept no liability arising from your transaction with a third party. See Sections 11 and 12.
4.4 Pricing and Availability
Prices, discounts, specifications, and stock levels mentioned on the Site were accurate at the time of writing and change without notice. Always verify current price, specification, and availability on the merchant’s own page before purchasing. We do not honour, match, or guarantee any price shown here.
5. Nature of Our Content
5.1 Opinion and Testing, Not Guarantees
Our reviews reflect our opinions and the results of our testing at the time of testing. They are provided for general informational purposes only.
Manufacturing changes without warning. A bag we praised in 2023 may be built to a different specification in 2026 under the same model name. Materials change. Factories change. Quality control varies between production runs. Your unit may differ from ours.
A positive review is not a warranty, a guarantee, or a promise of performance.
5.2 We Do Not Provide Professional Advice
Nothing on the Site constitutes legal, financial, insurance, medical, or professional travel advice. Do not treat it as such. Consult an appropriately qualified professional for those matters.
5.3 Airline Rules and Regulations
We publish airline size charts, carry-on dimensions, and baggage allowance information as a convenience. Airlines change these rules frequently, without notice, and enforce them inconsistently between airports, routes, and staff members.
You are solely responsible for verifying current requirements directly with your airline before you travel. We accept no liability for gate-check fees, excess baggage charges, denied boarding, confiscated items, or any other consequence arising from reliance on information published here.
Airline rules belong to airlines. They do not belong to us.
5.4 Regional Variation
We serve readers across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and Western Europe. Product availability, model names, specifications, pricing, warranty terms, and consumer protections differ by market. Content written with one market in mind may not apply to yours.
5.5 Accuracy
We take reasonable care to ensure content is accurate and current. We do not warrant that it is. Content may be out of date, incomplete, or contain errors. We update reviews when we become aware of a change, but we cannot guarantee we will catch every one.
Every review shows a “last updated” date. Treat older content with proportionate caution.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Content
All content on the Site — including articles, reviews, guides, comparison tables, photographs, test methodologies, scoring systems, graphics, logos, and the arrangement of all of it — is owned by Travel Essentials or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws.
The name Travel Essentials and our logo are our trade marks. You may not use them without our prior written permission.
6.2 What You May Do
You may:
- View, read, and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use
- Quote briefly from our content — a sentence or two — with clear attribution to Travel Essentials and a live, followable link to the source page
- Share links to our pages freely, anywhere
6.3 What You May Not Do
Without our prior written permission, you may not:
- Reproduce, republish, or redistribute our content in whole or in substantial part
- Rewrite, spin, paraphrase, or “rephrase” our reviews to disguise their origin
- Use our content, in whole or in part, to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any machine learning model, large language model, or artificial intelligence system, or to build any derivative dataset
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically extract content by any automated means, except by well-behaved search engine crawlers that obey our robots.txt
- Frame, mirror, or embed our pages so as to present our content as your own
- Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notice, attribution, or affiliate disclosure
- Use our content or trade marks in any way that implies endorsement, partnership, or affiliation that does not exist
- Use our content for any commercial purpose
6.4 Third-Party Rights
Brand names, product names, logos, and trade marks appearing on the Site belong to their respective owners. They are used for identification and descriptive purposes only. Their appearance here does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from those owners.
6.5 Reporting Infringement
If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, email info@travelessentiales.com with the subject line “Copyright Notice.” Include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed
- The exact URL where the allegedly infringing material appears
- Your contact details
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf
- Your physical or electronic signature
We respond to valid notices promptly and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material.
7. Your Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers, or any connected system
- Introduce malware, viruses, or any malicious code
- Interfere with or disrupt the Site’s operation, or overload its infrastructure
- Use automated systems — bots, scrapers, spiders — to access the Site, except compliant search engine crawlers
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security or access-control feature
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone
- Harvest email addresses or other contact information from the Site
- Post spam, advertisements, or unsolicited promotional material
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, obscene, discriminatory, or infringing
- Use the Site in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair it
We may investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who violates this section, including reporting to law enforcement.
8. Comments and User Submissions
8.1 Your Content
If you post a comment, submit feedback, share a photograph, or send us any other material (“User Content”), you retain ownership of it.
By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, display, and distribute that content on the Site and in connection with our publication, in any media now known or later developed.
You warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights to the User Content
- It does not infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
- It is not defamatory, unlawful, or otherwise objectionable
- It is truthful and not misleading
8.2 Our Rights
We may, at our sole discretion and without notice or obligation:
- Refuse, edit, or remove any User Content
- Close comments on any article
- Ban any user
We do not pre-screen User Content and we are not responsible for it. Views expressed in comments are those of their authors, not ours.
8.3 Ideas and Suggestions
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or proposals — for reviews to write, features to add, gear to test — you agree we may use them freely, without compensation, attribution, or obligation of confidentiality. Do not send us anything you consider confidential or proprietary.
9. Brand and Commercial Relationships
9.1 What We Accept
We accept review samples from brands, subject to the terms in Section 3. We may accept advertising that is clearly and visibly labelled as advertising and kept separate from editorial content.
9.2 What We Refuse
We do not accept, and will not respond to:
- Payment in exchange for a review, a score, or a mention
- Paid backlinks or link exchanges
- Unsolicited guest posts
- AI-generated article submissions
- Requests to remove or amend a negative review absent a factual error
- Requests to see a review before publication
9.3 Product Samples
Where a brand provides a sample:
- We disclose it clearly on the review page
- We keep, donate, or return the product at our discretion
- The brand receives no editorial input whatsoever
- The brand receives no advance copy and no right of reply
- We publish a negative verdict where a negative verdict is warranted
9.4 Factual Corrections
If a brand believes we have published a factual error — a wrong dimension, a wrong price, a wrong material specification — we welcome the correction and will verify and fix it. Disagreement with our opinion is not a factual error. We will not amend a score, soften a conclusion, or withdraw a review because a brand is unhappy with it.
10. Third-Party Sites and Content
The Site contains links to third-party websites, including merchants, brands, and affiliate networks. It may embed third-party content such as videos.
We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for any third-party site or its content, products, services, privacy practices, or terms. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.
Once you leave the Site, these Terms cease to apply. The third party’s terms and privacy policy govern. Read them.
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of any third-party site.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The Site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Content is accurate, complete, current, or reliable
- Defects will be corrected
- The Site or its servers are free of viruses or harmful components
- Any product we review will perform as it did in our testing
- Any result you obtain from using the Site will meet your expectations
Your use of the Site, and your reliance on any content within it, is entirely at your own risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. In particular, if you are a consumer in the United Kingdom, the European Union, or Australia, you have statutory rights that these Terms do not affect. Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site — regardless of the legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Without limiting the above, we are not liable for:
- Any purchase you make from a third-party merchant
- Any defect, failure, or unsatisfactory performance of any product we review
- Fees, charges, or penalties imposed by any airline
- Denied boarding, confiscated items, or delayed travel
- Loss or damage to luggage or its contents
- Any decision you make in reliance on our content
- Errors, omissions, or outdated information on the Site
- Any interruption, suspension, or discontinuation of the Site
- Unauthorised access to or alteration of your data
- The conduct of any third party
Aggregate liability cap. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or relating to the Site and these Terms shall not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD $100), or the amount you have paid us in the preceding twelve months, whichever is greater. We do not charge for access to the Site, so in most cases this figure will be USD $100.
What we do not exclude. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Travel Essentials, its owners, contributors, and contractors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your breach of these Terms
- Your violation of any law or the rights of any third party
- Any User Content you submit
- Your misuse of the Site
We reserve the right to assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, at your expense. You agree to cooperate with our defence of such claims.
14. Availability and Changes to the Site
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site — in whole or in part, permanently or temporarily — at any time, without notice and without liability to you.
We may remove, revise, or update any content at any time. We are under no obligation to keep any article, review, or page available.
We do not guarantee any level of uptime.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time.
- The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
- For material changes — for example, a change to the limitation of liability, the dispute resolution provisions, or your licence to our content — we will post a prominent notice on the Site at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
- Minor clarifications may be made without notice.
Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Site.
We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, for any reason, without notice including if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms.
You may stop using the Site at any time.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Sections 6 (Intellectual Property), 8 (Comments and User Submissions), 11 (Disclaimer of Warranties), 12 (Limitation of Liability), 13 (Indemnity), 17 (Governing Law), and 18 (Dispute Resolution).
17. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Site including non-contractual disputes are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Consumer protection. If you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom, the European Union, or the European Economic Area, this clause does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
18. Dispute Resolution
18.1 Contact Us First
Most disputes resolve with a conversation. Before commencing any formal proceeding, please email info@travelessentiales.com with the subject line “Dispute” and describe the issue. We will attempt to resolve it in good faith within 30 days.
18.2 Exceptions
Nothing in this section prevents either party from:
- Seeking injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights
- Bringing a claim in a small claims court
Nothing in this section limits any statutory right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, or to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme available to you.
19. General Provisions
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later. A waiver is effective only if made in writing.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign ours without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site, and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
No partnership. Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and us.
Third-party rights. Except where expressly stated, no third party has any right to enforce any provision of these Terms.
Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, labour disputes, government action, power failures, or failures of internet infrastructure.
Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
